SKETCHES

I have often said that I start painting a new work without knowing where I am going with the image, but I think now it is more truthful to say that I do do a little trial sketch(es) when I have an idea and I explore some type of layout before actually buying the appropriate surface to start the painting. However once a painting starts I feel no problem with changing a layout, colour, idea, or whatever while finishing the piece.

While moving recently I put together a collection of sketches that I didn’t throw out (probably because they so closely resembled the final work) and here are some of them. The ones on blue paper I did when I was standing at the auto-sorting machine at the library, -proof that I can do two things at once.
